about

Sid Redlin-Pondering death I wondered what artifacts a space traveling future human civilization might happen upon. Long dead former inhabitants of planets humans are only just discovering. What spectacular family photos might be lying about?
How did these aliens encode their memories? Will the device be so strange as to be unrecognizable? A lump of crystal, containing trillions of terrabytes of family history, if only it can be decoded and read.
Curious little human drops the crystal in the first slot. Nothing. Second slot. Red strobing lights. This slot.....
This is slot 179.3. After many many many more attempts, the humans eventually discovered this particular crystal was a light holographic of the last moments of an elder scion of the clan. His dying moments, recorded perfectly and stored in every detail to be experienced by future generations as if they themselves were dying. This is that death. That death played back in the incorrect slot.

Ixtab- the hung Mayan goddess of suicide,
whom guides the soul of those who kill themselves towards
its own paradise, the piece is a personal rendition of that final journey
